A Dining Room Worth Splurging On

Something that I absolutely LOVE about designing my home is that I can do…

….Anything at all; I can be, UNAPOLOGETICALLY MYSELF!

This is what I want to focus on in this blog post. There are no rules [No right-or-wrongs].

I want to focus on this thought specifically, because this room is one of my all-time favorites! However, some people may think that I am completely crazy for spending the “extra buck” on this luxury look.

This is because, my dining room was an investment.

If you know me, you know that I love a good bargain find.

If you know me, you also know that I love luxury decor.

If you know me, you know that I believe that….

I do believe that you can get [almost] the same look for significantly less money. However, I am going to explain to you why I chose to spend the extra buck on these timeless pieces.

I have always wanted a formal dining room. As soon as my husband and I started shopping around for our first home, I knew this was a deal breaker. I love how nice they look [all set up]. I love hosting parties, family holidays, and everything in between.

I cannot emphasize enough how passionately I feel about designing a “feeling” for your home instead of just a “look” for your house.

You can have the most beautifully designed house and it never feel like your home.

I want people….

…. to walk through the doors of my home and truly feel what Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, felt like when Lumiere sung…

Now, let me tell you, the dining room decor in Beauty and the Beast was not purchased at the Dollar General Store.

This is a…

…look.

This is what I wanted; These are the brands that I trusted, to make a truly luxurious look, a reality in my own home.

Sadly, Pier 1 is going out of business. Below, I have linked some alternative options that I have found.

  • Ceiling Medallion
    • This was actually a piece of metal wall art; Purchased at Hobby Lobby [50% off sale].
    • We drilled a hole in the middle of the medallion and hung it ourselves- Yes, it was an absolute pain and my husband almost lost his mind; BUT it was totally worth it!
  • White & Gray Paisley Curtains [Front Curtains]/ Curtain Rod
    • TJMaxx
  • Apples/ Wine Glasses/ Greenery Leaves
    • Homegoods

Like I said; Some of you probably think that I am crazy right now.

Maybe I am?

However, this was an important project to me. I love luxury decor, and most of the time, only have a few “luxury items” in one room. I went ALL OUT on this one.

I wanted…

  • Furniture and decor pieces that I knew would last a lifetime.
  • Timeless style pieces that could grow, change, and adapt to my style as I grow, change, and adapt to the world; That is forever changing around me.
  • To create a space where, my guests would get a taste of sophistication, ultimate satisfaction, and luxury.

… The one you get, when you walk into an insanely nice restaurant or even a decorated home decor store [Restoration Hardware].

The fabric is nicer.

The seats are more comfortable; From the down feather entwined cushions that truly feel like a cloud, instead of standard cotton.

The wood design is smoother, more intricately carved, heavier; Because its real wood.

That is the feeling that I wanted to inspire.

If you like this look, but don’t want to spend that kind of money…don’t!

You can always recreate a look for less; I do this VERY OFTEN.

My husband and I actually built our coffee table; To replicate one from Restoration Hardware.
